The Catamounts led in the voting with seven first-place votes and 78 points from the coaches, to edge out The Citadel's 75 points in the coaches’ poll. The Catamounts earned 167 points and 13 first-place votes from the media, to The Citadel's 149 points.
Aaron Attaway was selected as Preseason SoCon Player of the Year and Jeremy Null was selected as Preseason Pitcher of the Year. The Cats have five players that earned preseason all-conference honors including pitcher Jordan Smith, catcher Adam Martin, and first baseman Jacob Hoyle joining Attaway and Null on the first team.
