Catamount Basketball - #25 James Sinclair

Catamount Basketball tips off on November 8th in Cullowhee. The Cats will open play against Wittenberg in the Ramsey Center. Coach Hunter spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Wittenberg, and led them to the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Let's get to know this team a little better, moving on to highlight another junior.

2012-13 (Sophomore):  Appeared in all 33 games with 27 consecutive starts for the Catamounts ... Did not start the first six contests ... Averaged 29.6 minutes, 7.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game ... Scored in double-digits 11 times ... Led the Catamounts in rebounds three times ... Had five or more assists five times ... Handed out a career-high six assists against Austin Peay (11/20) ... Scored in double figures three straight games, 10 points at Eastern Kentucky (12/01), 13 points at No. 13 Illinois (12/04) and 12 points against Appalachian State (12/08) ... Grabbed eight rebounds, had five assists and went 5-of-5 from the free throw line in the Eastern Kentucky game ... Had 11 points and eight rebounds against Liberty (12/31) ... Collected 10 rebounds at Chattanooga (01/19) ... Scored 17 points at Appalachian State (02/02) on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor ... Seven made baskets in the App State game set a career-high ... Scored 17 points against Coastal Carolina (02/23) on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 from three ... Played a career-high 42 minutes in the overtime game against Samford (03/02) ... Ended the season on three-game double-digit scoring streak ... Scored ten points in the Samford game, 14 points against The Citadel (03/08) in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament and scored 19 points setting a new career-high against the College of Charleston (03/09) ... Tied a career-high with seven made baskets in the CofC game.

2011-12 (Freshman): Saw action in 32 of WCU's 35 games on the season, twice making appearances in the starting lineup ... Scored 68 points on the year, averaging 2.1 points per game ... Scored his first collegiate points with 33 seconds remaining in the season-opener at South Carolina (11/11) by converting an Ishmael Hollis steal into a fast-break jumper on his first collegiate attempt ... Turned in a career-best performance in the record-setting win over Toccoa Falls (1/17), posting his first collegiate double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds ... Made his first collegiate start at UNC Greensboro (1/28), starting back-to-back games ... Pulled down a SoCon-best five rebounds in the tournament victory over Wofford (3/3) ... Stepped up to make a big 3-pointer in WCU's championship run against the Davidson Wildcats (3/5), scoring eight points off the bench.

Prior to Western Carolina: Was a four-year letter winner for head coach Tim Jordan at Savannah HS ... Since his sophomore season, the versatile guard has been among the starting five, averaging 10 points, four boards, three steals and nearly three assists per game for a squad which won the region championship as a junior ... Averaged 16 points per game with eight rebounds, six steals and six assists as a junior, earning All North/South Georgia accolades ... Played AAU basketball with the Seaport Shockers out of Savannah during the summer of 2010.

Career Note: Made Western Carolina's first 3-point basket in regular season game on international soil ... 3-pointer came with 9:57 on the clock against Austin Peay (11/20) in Cancun, Mexico as part of the Cancun Challenge.
