Countdown to Kickoff: 60 Days - Daniel Gibson

It's now 60 days until kickoff of Catamount football at Western Carolina's E.J. Whitmire Stadium. The Catamounts open the season on Thursday, August 30, 2012 against Mars Hill College.

To help pass those long summer days until football season starts, and hopefully get the Catamount faithful more excited about the upcoming season, we'll continue the 100 day football countdown.

#60 not assigned, we'll highlight another football assistant.

Daniel Gibson

Hometown: Wake Forest, N.C.
High School: Wakefield HS
Position: Director of Football Operations
Alma Mater: Western Carolina

Daniel Gibson enters his seventh season working with the Catamount football staff. He is entering his first season as the Director of Football Operations after having spent the past two as the Defensive Intern Coach.

As the Director of Football Operations, Gibson will manage all aspects of the team from roster maintenance to travel.

Gibson, who worked with the Catamount Club in the summer of 2006, has become a fixture around Catamount athletics with his willingness to assist any staff member or coach when asked.

Having played prep football at Wakefield High School, Gibson spent four years working with the Catamount football team, working his way up from video coordinator to having more of a coaching role.

In two seasons as the Defensive Assistant, he joined the coaches in the press box in aiding Defensive Coordinator Matt Pawlowski on the headsets.

A native of Wake Forest, N.C., Gibson graduated from Western Carolina with an undergraduate degree in psychology in 2007. He then earned his Master's Degree in Sport Management from WCU in 2009.
