Bat Cats score 22 runs in win

Aaron Attaway
Cullowhee, NC - The Catamounts pounded out 22 runs to defeat Iona by a score of 22-2, and ensure the series win against the Gaels in Cullowhee's Hennon Stadium Saturday. A strong pitching performance by Morgan McKinney, allowed him tp pick up the win with only one hit given up. Infielder Aaron Attaway had a career-high five doubles, improving his batting average to a team-leading .478 on his way to six RBIs, and scoring 5 runs himself.

"Attaway's been playing a great short stop for us number one," said Coach Moranda after the game. "As our lead off man, he's our catalyst. As he goes, we go. He's had a great week for us against Georgia and now Iona. He had a special, special day for us. You also have to give Morgan (McKinney) credit. He battled through a tough start where he wasn't as sharp as he needs to be, but the runs definitely helped to settle him down."  The final game of the series will be played on Sunday at 1 pm.
