MBB: South Carolina Gamecocks

Information
The Catamount's first opponent, the South Carolina Gamecocks, is looking to rebound from a disappointing 14-16 record last season. However, the 2011-12 season may be just as tough, with all the off season challenges experienced by Head Coach Darrin Horn's Gamecocks.

Starting shooting guard Ramon Galloway and Ole Miss transfer Murphy Holloway will not be on the team this season, add in the graduation of Sam Muldrow, as well as, Bruce Ellington's decision to play football (will rejoin the team after football season) will make USC a very young, but talented team that will have 9 of 11 players as underclassmen.   The Gamecocks won their only exhibition game over Kentucky Wesleyan, 69-59.  The USC shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) from the floor, knocking down 10-of-19,  3-point attempts. KW struggled against the Gamecock defense, shooting just 27.9 percent (17-of-61) of their attempts, however they held a 39-37 rebound advantage on the boards. Freshman Anthony Gill led the Gamecocks with 14 points and six rebounds.
