A look at Mars Hill's last game - the UC Golden Eagles

Jon Richt
"We played hard on both sides of the ball....I loved the two goal line stands our defense withstood; they were huge. I thought our offensive line controlled their defensive front. I thought we threw the ball well, and our defense was solid throughout the game.  As far as running the ball, you can't say enough about Jonas Randolph," said head coach Tim Clifton, on Saturday after his Lions put away the University of Charleston (WV) Golden Eagles in their season opener, 27-7.

Quarterback Jon Richt was 16-26 for 250 yards and three touchdowns, as tight end Josh Crumpton was Richt's favorite target and caught six passes for 68 yards. Preseason All American, Jonas Randolph, (who was named SAC Football Offensive Player of the Week) rushed for 163 yards of the Lions' 523 total yards.  Randolph averaged six yards per carry, while he also caught two passes for 41 yards, giving him 204 total yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Rudy Cabral led the Lions with 10 tackles (8 solo). Defensive end Troy Harris added eight tackles and a sack.  The Lions' defense held UC's offense to just 68 yards on the ground.  For more stats, see the box score below.
