'Celebration of Catamount Baseball' Set for Feb. 19

"It is my humble obligation and duty to honor those great players and teams that have come before our current personnel," said Moranda. "My dream is to realize the long lasting program goal of traveling the 1,002 miles to compete in Omaha, home of the College World Series……"

In conjunction with its 2011 season Opening Weekend, Western Carolina head baseball coach Bobby Moranda has announced the second-ever "Celebration of Catamount Baseball" fundraising event that will be held Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 pm. The banquet will coincide with the season-opening home series as WCU unveils the on-going renovations Ronnie G. Childress Field at Hennon Stadium.

Coming off a 37-win season that included 21 home victories and a runner-up finish in the Southern Conference Baseball Championship, WCU opens the 2011 season with a three-game, non-conference series against Morehead State on Friday, Feb. 18 at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. The "Celebration" begins following Saturday afternoon's game between the Catamounts and the Eagles.
